ex★ 2027: Three new sets trademarked in Japan
Three new Pokémon TCG set names have been registered as trademarks in Japan: “Magma Heartbeat”, “Shock of Lightning” and “Aurora Ripples”. They sit in the same category as earlier expansions of the trading card game. All three names fit the Legendary Beasts of Johto: Entei, Raikou and Suicune.

Why do the sets belong to ex★?
The ex★ series was announced at the closing ceremony of the 2026 World Championships. Exactly these three Pokémon were at the center of the trailer. The new names pick up their elements: magma for Entei, lightning for Raikou, aurora and ripples for Suicune. The pairing is not official yet, but it is the obvious reading.
The three names at a glance

- Magma Heartbeat (マグマの鼓動, “heartbeat of magma”): fits Entei
- Shock of Lightning (イナズマの衝撃, “strike of lightning”): fits Raikou
- Aurora Ripples (オーロラの波紋, “ripples of the aurora”): fits Suicune

When will the sets release?
Trademark registrations usually appear six to eight months before a new expansion. That makes a spring 2027 start for the ex★ series likely. Before that, Japan still gets Aura Seeker on November 27, 2026 and the high class pack MEGA x MEGA Parade on February 19, 2027. There are no dates, contents or product images for the three new sets yet.
What does this mean for collectors?
Nothing can be pre-ordered yet. If you want to secure Japanese sets early, watch for the official announcement over the coming months, because pre-orders usually open fast after that. We will post as soon as there is news. It is faster in our Discord, or sign up via the contact form.
