Future Rare: Mew ex and Mewtwo ex from 30th Celebration

For the worldwide launch of 30th Celebration on September 16, 2026, a rarity appears that the Pokémon Trading Card Game has never had before: the Future Rare. The first two cards of this kind show Mewtwo ex and Mew ex in a metallic shimmering finish that runs across the entire card.

The two Future Rares in detail

Mewtwo ex 157/128 is a Basic Psychic Pokémon with 230 HP. Photon Bullets costs two Psychic Energy and does 50 damage to each of your opponent's Pokémon ex, including the Bench. Psychic Powers costs three Psychic Energy and does 230 damage, after which Mewtwo ex cannot attack on your next turn. Weakness Darkness x2, resistance Fighting -30, retreat 2.

Mew ex 158/128 has 160 HP and the Memory Helix Ability: Mew ex can use the attacks of any of your Benched Pokémon as long as the required Energy is attached. Its own attack, Teleportation Burst, costs one Psychic Energy, does 30 damage and lets you switch Mew ex with a Benched Pokémon.

Both cards are by YOSHIROTTEN, the artist behind the secret RGB Mew cards, and carry the 30th anniversary Pikachu stamp.

Plus two Special Illustration Rares

Alongside the Future Rares, the same two Pokémon each get a Special Illustration Rare. Mewtwo ex 151/128 by Yono Keiji shows Mewtwo against a black and violet ornamental pattern. The stats match the Future Rare version: 230 HP, Photon Bullets and Psychic Powers.

Mew ex 152/128 by Kuroimori goes the opposite way: Mew floats through a bright blossoming forest. 160 HP, Memory Helix and Teleportation Burst, so the same stats as the Future Rare version.

What this means for collectors

Four chase cards for two of the most recognisable Pokémon there are, plus a rarity that exists for the first time. First printings of a new rarity tend to attract a lot of attention, and 30th Celebration launches in every region on the same day. If you are hunting the Future Rares specifically, keep in mind that they are not on the set's regular card list and are considered very rare.
